Eric Trager is the Ira Weiner Fellow at the Washington Institute for Near East Policy and an associate scholar at the Foreign Policy Research Institute.   He is currently completing his Ph.D. in political science at the University of Pennsylvania, where his research focuses on Egyptian opposition parties.  He was in Egypt during the 2011 anti-Mubarak revolts, and his writings have appeared in The New York Times, Foreign Affairs, The Atlantic, The New Republic, and The Wall Street Journal, among many other publications.


From 2006-2007, Eric lived in Cairo, Egypt as an Islamic Civilizations Fulbright fellow, where he studied at the American University in Cairo and received his M.A. in Arabic Studies with a concentration in Islamic Studies.  He graduated from Harvard University in 2005 with a degree in Government and language citations in Arabic and Hebrew. 


Eric currently resides in Washington, DC with his wife, Alyssa.
